Charles Mingus

Charles  “Charlie ” Mingus, Jr. (April 22, 1922 – Jan 5, 1979) was an American talking bassist, composer, bandleader, and pianist. He was also famous for his activism against racial injustice. Mingus is considered one of the most important composers and performers of jazz, and he recorded some highly regarded albums. Dozens of musicians passed through his bands and later went on to awesome careers. His tunes—though melodic and distinctive—are not often re-recorded, in part because of their unconventional nature. Mingus was also influential and creative as a adornment leader, recruiting precocious and sometimes little-known artists whom he assembled into unconventional and revealing configurations. Ornette Coleman (born March 9, 1930)[1] is an American saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter and composer. He was one of the major innovators of the free talking movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Ben Folds Five

Ben Folds Five was an alternative rock trio formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
