Richard Charles Rodgers (June 28, 1902 December 30, 1979) was an American composer of over 900 songs and 40 Broadway musicals. He also composed music for film and television. He is best known for his songwriting partnership lyricists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II. His compositions have had a significant impact on popular music, to date, and has a wide appeal. Rodgers is one of only two people, who have won an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize (Marvin Hamlisch is the other). Sweetest Sounds is popular.

At Berklee, he studied and worked with Herb Pomeroy. He graduated from Berklee in 1962 and the conservatory in 1963. His performance has probably made him a household name among jazz fans worldwide and won him fame and recognition, including several Grammy Awards. A shorter recorded dozens of albums as a leader, and appears on many others with others including Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the late 1950s, Miles Davis second great quintet in the 1960 group and Weather fusion jazz-rock, which Shorter co-led in the 1970s. Many of his compositions have become standards. Shorter was born in Newark, New Jersey, and attended Newark Arts High School. He loved music, encouraged by his father to take a teenage saxophone (his brother Alan became a trumpeter). After graduating from New York University in 1956, Shorter spent two years in the U.S. Army, during which he briefly played Horace Silver. After military discharge, he played in Maynard Ferguson. It was in his youth, the shortest was nicknamed Mr.Gone, who later became the title of Weather Report.

Steve Swallow (born October 4, 1940) is a jazz bassist and composer born in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. She studied
piano and trumpet before turning Swallow on bass at the age of 14 years While attending a prep school, he began to try to jazz improvisation. In 1960, he left Yale, where he studied composition, and moved to New York City, who play at that time in a trio with Paul Bley, Jimmy Giuffre. Since his arrival Art Farmer quartet in 1964, Swallow began to write.It was in the 1960′s that its long-term partnership with several groups began Gary Burton. In the early 1970′s, Swallow switched exclusively to bass guitar, he prefers the 5-string variety. Bob Cranshaw, Swallow was among the first jazz bassists to do so (with much encouragement from Roy Haynes, drummer preferred swallowing). He played with a plectrum (copper by Hotlicks), and his style is complex solos in the upper register, was one of the early followers of the chain C in the top of a bass guitar. Deep in 1974-1976 taught at Berklee College of Music. It is often speculated that had an influence on the contents of the Real Book, which includes many of his early compositions. Later, he recorded an album of the same name, with the image of a well-worn brown stained Real Book on the cover.In 1978 Swallow became an essential and constant member of the Carla Bley Band. He traveled extensively with John Scofield in the 1980′s, and has referred to this collaboration on several occasions in recent years. Swallow has always played the low category in Down Beat polls for years, critics and readers since the mid 80′s. His compositions have been subject to, among others, Jim Hall (who recorded his first song, Feathers ), Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Stan Getz and Gary Burton.

Barney Kessel (October 17, 1923 – May 6, 2004) was an American jazz guitarist born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.
He was a member of many jazz groups as well as leading a first call guitarist in the studio, film and television recordings. Kessel was a member of group of studio musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. Kessel began his career as a teenager crossing with local dance bands before moving on to bands such as led by Chico Marx. He quickly established itself as an important post-jazz guitarist Charlie Christian. In 1944 he attended the film Lester Young Jammin the Blues and in 1947 he recorded new stars of Charlie Parker Relaxin at Camarillo session for the label Dial. He is featured on the compilation Charlie Parker on the dial. He was named the No. 1 guitarist in Esquire magazine Down Beat and Playboy surveys between 1947 and 1960 .Barney Kessel is known for its innovative work in the guitar trio setting. In the 1950s he made several albums The Poll Winners with Ray Brown on bass and Shelly Manne on drums. He was also responsible for the guitar player on the final recording of Julie London "Cry Me A River . Also from the 50s, contains three Kessel Plays Standards Volume some of his most polished.
